Image Stack Import

Creates a 3D IDCube dataset from multiple individual 2D image files.

Overview

Creates a 3D IDCube dataset from multiple individual 2D image files.

Each selected image becomes one plane in the third dimension.

Select two or more image files. IDCubePro naturally sorts the filenames before constructing the stack.

All selected images must have identical width and height.

The import stops if a spatial-size mismatch is detected.

RGB images are converted to grayscale before being added to the stack.

Each source image therefore contributes one plane.

The third dimension represents the ordered sequence of source images.

IDCubePro assigns band indices 1:N rather than physical wavelengths.

Important

The third dimension should not automatically be interpreted as wavelength.

It represents image/plane order.

Filenames are naturally sorted so numbered files are placed in their expected numerical sequence.

The stack is loaded directly into the current IDCubePro workspace.

This importer does not automatically save an IDCube MAT file.

Workflow

1. Choose Import Image Stack.

2. Select at least two supported image files.

3. IDCubePro naturally sorts the selected filenames.

4. RGB images are converted to grayscale.

5. Verify that all images have identical XY dimensions.

6. The images are assembled into a rows x columns x planes dataset.

7. Save the resulting dataset manually if you want to keep it.

Use this importer when separate image files represent an ordered stack.

For a single multipage TIFF, use the appropriate TIFF/OME-TIFF importer.
