NetCDF Import

Imports numeric image or multidimensional data from NetCDF or NetCDF4 files.

Overview

Imports numeric image or multidimensional data from NetCDF or NetCDF4 files.

IDCubePro lists readable numeric NetCDF variables and lets you select the image or cube variable to import.

Dimension names such as band, wavelength, spectral, lambda, and channel are used to identify a likely spectral dimension when available.

When a valid spectral coordinate is found, IDCubePro moves that dimension to dimension 3, sorts the coordinate ascending, and reorders image bands.

When no valid physical spectral coordinate is detected, band indices 1:N are used.

Variables with more than three dimensions are flattened into a rows x columns x bands representation.

Variable and global NetCDF metadata are preserved and written to a readable text file.

Important

NetCDF is a general container format. Dimension order and coordinate naming vary substantially between datasets.

Workflow

1. Choose Import NetCDF Dataset.

2. Select the desired numeric variable.

3. Review the detected spectral dimension and coordinate.

4. Verify cube orientation after import.
